Six Months Old! (And Happy Summer Solstice)

"Aw, shucks, Mom....you're embarrasing me. I'm 6 months old today--I'm too old for all those smooches!"

Well, thankfully he's still a little baby but he is growing up fast. *sniffle* *sniffle* We are amazed time has passed so quickly. They are babies for such a short while. We are loving watching Benjamin change and grow everyday, even if we do get a little misty-eyed with each passing milestone. Happy 6 month birthday, Benjamin Bug! Mommy and Daddy love you!

Things Benjamin's Into

Here is a rolling list of what Benjamin likes these days.

-Playing Hand which consists of his Mom's hand making different shapes and designs and noises over his head.

-Airplane

-Getting surprise stuffed elephant kisses and laughing

-Sesame Street

-Jumperoo

-RattleBear & Zebbie (zebra) rattle

-Naked Butt Dance (stay tuned for video of this!)

-Watching his Daddy drum on various pieces of furniture and body parts

-Raking his fingernails across bedsheets

-Words He Likes To Hear: lrlllrrglllrr (rolling tongue sound), dance, wiggle, good morning, pull pull pull, upppp!

-Words He Like to Say: lrlllrrglllrr (rolling tongue sound--really! but more back in the throat), aigoo!, ugh-a-lug, ungah, dada, gah, and a lot of "th" with bubbles (sounds kind of like raspberries)!

Happy Father's Day!

Here are some cute pics of Henry and Benjamin celebrating their first Father's Day together.

First Solid Food!

Benjamin has been sitting with us at the table in his high chair while we eat our meals. He plays with his toys but keeps a good, steady eye on our plates and our mouths. Since he is almost 6 months old and can sit up well, is losing his tongue thrust reflex, and is showing interest in big people food we decided to give him his first solid food yesterday. The pediatrician recommended rice cereal but we researched it and found that banana mixed with breast milk can also be a first food, without the surge in blood sugar that rice alone can give. We were expecting some cute *yuck* or *ewwww* faces that happen when babies begin experimenting with foods but Benjamin just ate happily with no funny faces. Check him out!

Take a Bow

Benjamin is getting back to his Korean roots. Bowing is a basic part of social etiquette, a way to show politeness and respect. For the last few weeks Benjamin has been practicing his bowing technique and we think he's got it down pretty good.

Splash Splash Splash!

Benjamin's favorite word is inspired by one of his favorite activities...bath time! He loves kicking and splashing while his mom and dad try to wash him. Oh and we have purchased three different types of baby bathtubs in search for one that doesn't require both parents to try to balance him in it. We have decided that we're going into the baby bathtub business and become millionaires. In our search for the right bathtub we ran into other parents on the same quest--to find a tub that doesn't require two adults. The last one we bought is not perfect but will have to do since we have burned through Benjamin's college fund looking for the perfect tub. Oh well. Enjoy these cute Benjamin Bug bath time pics! (Notice the wave action from all the kicking in the tub)
