Santa came early this year! Unfortunately, there are no chimneys in Women’s Hospital and our little gift had to be delivered through an incision in Nisha’s abdomen and uterus. Santa don’t mess around!
Here are some pictures of our new little bundle of joy, Benjamin Coffey Kivett. He arrived at exactly 1:13PM Saturday, December 22, 2007. He came three and a half weeks early, because his Mom’s blood pressure was becoming dangerous to them both. He weighed 5 pounds and 5.4 ounces and was 18” long, which is just about right for an early delivery. He’s got his Mommy’s lips and dark hair (lots of it!), dark dark dark blue eyes (for now) and his Daddy’s big feet and long fingers. He’s had a slight issue with his blood sugar being a little low, but that’s common in preemies and it’s an easily manageable problem. Otherwise, he seems to be eating plenty, not to mention lots of pooping, peeing, sleeping and looking around wondering who turned the dark off. He’s alert, adorable and off to a good start. Thanks to everyone who supported us through our eventful pregnancy and this sudden delivery. We love you all and can’t wait to share little Ben’s life with all his new family and friends.
